SITE Southeast Event in Sandestin
The SITE 2010 chapter of the year held its spring event at the Sandestin Resort, attracting an international audience of highly qualified meeting consultants and industry suppliers. With a theme driven by sustainability and social responsibility, attendees were able to collaborate and learn, as well as work together to create a meaningful legacy.
The final event of the Sandestin conference was an afternoon “The Future Is In Our Hands” CSR activity in which The Telluride Tourism Board, in conjunction with Odyssey Teams Helping Hands program, worked with SITE participants to collaborate on building prosthetic hands for the thousands of landmine victims across the world. The teambuilding experience encouraged members to share challenges and opportunities as they constructed the LN-4 model hands and prepared them to be shipped to those in need. “This exercise to help a child in need regain use of their hands was one of those moments when each participant believed that they could make a difference in the world.” Said Carol Owen, SITE Southeast Chapter President “Our members were eager to “Share the Love!” in a meaningful way. This collaborative event was just what we needed to close our conference on an emotional high note.”
