Alexandra Wagner

Alexandra (“Alex”) Wagner has her Certification in Meetings Management (CMM) and currently serves as Group Vice President – Director of Corporate Event Marketing and Asst. Director of Sponsorships at SunTrust Banks, Inc. (STI) (www.suntrust.com). Alex’s focus is on meeting and event management and creating best practices in this area company-wide. Other areas of her responsibilities include Sponsorship Marketing of SunTrust’s wide range of sponsorship relationships in the sports, music and entertainment industries. This work has lead to a focus on marketing SunTrust’s Sports and Entertainment Specialty Group (www.suntrust.com/entertainment), which specializes in banking professional athletes, musicians, artists and entertainers.

In all, Alex has spent over fifteen years in the financial services sector, working at Robinson-Humphrey / Smith Barney, a subsidiary of Citigroup, and over 20 years in the meetings and event industry. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Restaurant and Tourism from the University of South Carolina and completed her International Hotel Management Certification at the Kempinski Hotel in Berlin, Germany. Alex received a second Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia, specializing in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

She is a member of the Georgia MPI chapter (www.GaMPI.org) and most recently served on the Executive Committee of the MPI International Board of Directors. She was a member of the MPI Body of Knowledge Task Force that established a comprehensive meetings industry standard body of knowledge (MBECS), with a special focus on Strategic Meetings Management. Alex is a current Site member and joined the Site Southeast Chapters’ (www.sitesoutheast.com) Board of Directors in 2012.  Prior to that, she served as Site SE’s Co-Chair of Programs and Education in 2010 and 2011.
